Origins of the Rockell Name
The Rockell name is found in its greatest numbers in Buckinghamshire, England, with lesser numbers around the London area and a few other English counties. There are also a very small number of occurrences of the name in certain States in the USA.
It is said that the origins of the name are French, coming from a gentleman who came across to England as part of the Norman invasion which following the Battle of Hastings in 1066. This gentleman was probably not a Monsieur Rockell, but rather someone who originated from the La Rochell area of France and took the geographic name to form his family name - so Rockell is possibly a hard Anglicisation of Rochell.
