Thomas (Tommy) PALMER was born in the village of Muirkirk, Ayrshire, Scotland in 1921. His father was was also called Thomas as had been his grandfather. His mother was Margaret Lapping. Tommy had a brother John.

Although at one point there were several Palmer families in Muirkirk, the family did not originate from the village, but rather from the Carlisle area. Two Palmer brothers and their wives had come from the Carlisle area to Muirkirk to work with the railway.

During the war Tommy served with the REME in North Africa.

Tommy married Marion Gray, a New Cumnock lass.

Died 1982 Muirkirk.
